Nike: the brand that dominates the sneaker world
Today, the brand with the swoosh is one of the world’s biggest sneaker sellers, if not the world’s biggest! Behind this success story are Bill Bowerman and Phil Knight, two athletes determined to launch a brand that would honor their sport. And so, in 1968, Nike was born. But where does this strange name come from, which today is known to all? The Nike sneaker brand is in fact derived from the name given to the goddess Niké, meaning “Victory”. In Greek mythology, Niké was a winged figure with the ability to move very quickly. It’s this idea that the brand with the swoosh wanted to evoke through its name. The brand’s promise is as follows: thanks to Nike equipment, you can benefit from high-performance products that will enable you to achieve victory. The Oregon-based company has designed thousands of sneaker models that we all know today. Among the brand’s greatest successes are the Dunk Low sneaker, the famous Nike Air Force 1 and the Nike Air Max. Each of these pairs has a very different style: while the Nike Dunk Low and Air Force 1 have a vintage, timeless aesthetic, the Air Max have a rebellious air. Finally, the Nike Sacai sneakers, which arrived on the market more recently, offer a futuristic, sophisticated style. These latest models are now among Nike’s best-sellers!
Nike and Jordan: a fruitful collaboration
In the 1980s, when the brand with the swoosh proposed a collaboration with Michael Jordan, it had no idea of the success that awaited it. However, the magic worked: very quickly, with the release of the Jordan 1 sneaker, the public was won over. Personalities, stars, athletes, people like you and me – everyone was seduced by the unique design of the first Air Jordan. Since then, the Jordan brand has released numerous models, including the Air Jordan 4, Air Jordan 1 High, Jordan 1 Mid and Nike Jordan 1 Low. As its name suggests, the Jordan 1 High features a high-top structure, while the Air Jordan 1 Mid has a medium collar. And, you guessed it, the Jordan 1 Low has a low cut. On the other hand, these 3 sneaker collections have several elements in common, namely the side swoosh, the wings and the Nike branding. The Air Jordan 4 sneaker, another of the brand’s best-sellers, offers a completely different style: Jumpman logo, TPU cage, reinforced eyelets, rugged look… these are the characteristics of the Jordan 4.
The Yeezy hype, sneakers designed by Kanye West
The American rapper may have fallen out of favor recently, but that’s not the case for his Yeezy sneakers. Indeed, although West has been the subject of fierce criticism in the recent past, this hasn’t really been reflected in the sales rates of his products. Let’s take a look back at the rapper’s successful models, which continue to appeal to the younger generation. The Yeezy 350, for example: first released in 2015, this pair of sneakers clad in primeknit fabric and featuring a thick sole has long been a sensation in the sneaker world. The second version of the Yeezy 350 sneakers continued the trend. In the Yeezy sneaker family, the Yeezy 380 and the Yeezy 700 collection also thrilled us. Both feature a futuristic style that convinced many of us. Last but not least, Yeezy flip-flops, i.e. Yeezy Foam and Yeezy Slide, also made our hearts beat faster this summer: in terms of comfort, Yeezy Slide flip-flops take the cake. But if your goal is to stand out from the crowd, we highly recommend the superb Yeezy Foam.
